Welcome to the North Maine Woods - Multiple Ownership - Multiple Use Management Area. The private forest landowners and state governmental agencies cooperating in this program are pleased you have chosen to visit our web site. It is designed to help you have a safe and pleasant trip in the area, plus provide you with valuable information on forest resource management and recreational use.

The area provides numerous outdoor recreational opportunities for over 100,000 visitors each year while at the same time providing renewable forest resources which are a major part of Maine's economy. Harvesting wood products and providing recreation are compatible if managed properly. Providing proper management of day use and camping is the main goal of the North Maine Woods organization.

  • Chase Brook Bridge on Pell & Pell is now Passable - posted on 8/8/2008
    Chase Brook Bridge on the Pell and Pell Rd. was washed out this spring, however, the bridge is now replaced and passable to traffic. Access to Chase Lake and other points of interest can now be reached via the Pell & Pell Rd.

  • DEBOULLIE ROAD IS NOW OPEN - posted on 7/30/2008
    The Deboulie road off of the Hewes brook road is now open all the way through to the St. Francis Road. The Red river crossing at 12 mile is repaired allowing access to the Deboullie Twp.

    Most all major roads in the NMW are passable Landowners have been working diligently to repair roads and improve access to areas damaged by this year’s snow melt and spring rains. Their appreciated efforts have greatly increased access for recreation enthusiasts.
